Shira was fortunate to study and learn photography long before the digital age. She would develop her own film and prints throughout high school in a basement darkroom built by her hobbyist photographer father. Learning the ins and outs of manual shooting on film have made her an accomplished technician of the craft. She puts those skills to work in digital form where the opportunities to be creative are numerous.
A lifetime love of the theater drew Shira to photographing plays, musicals, their rehearsals and PR campaigns. Her photos have been published in the NY Times, New York Magazine, Town & Country Magazine, Huffington Post, Time Out New York, Playbill, Backstage, Broadway World and various other theater related websites.
Shira is also a theater producer. Past projects include David Byrne’s American Utopia (Special Tony Award), Revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along (Tony Award), Here Lies Love, The Band's Visit (Tony Award), Waitress the Musical (Tony nomination), Meteor Shower, and Oh, Hello on Broadway.
