Shira was fortunate to study and learn photography long before the digital age. She would develop her own film and prints throughout high school in a basement darkroom built by her hobbyist photographer father. Learning the ins and outs of manual shooting on film have made her an accomplished technician of the craft. She puts those skills to work in digital form where the opportunities to be creative are numerous.
A lifetime love of the theatre drew Shira to photographing plays, musicals, their rehearsals and PR campaigns. Her photos have been published in the NY Times, Town & Country Magazine, Huffington Post, Time Out New York, Playbill, Backstage, Broadway World and various other theatre related websites.
Shira is also a theatre producer. Currently represented on Broadway with Waitress the Musical (Tony nomination), and David Byrne’s American Utopia. Past projects include The Band's Visit (Tony Award), Meteor Shower and Oh, Hello on Broadway.
